The Law Office of Lugo Martinez-Lugo (LML Law) is led by experienced lawyers, Atty. Monfrey C. Lugo and Atty. Theena C. Martinez-Lugo. They are products of two of the top Law Schools in the Philippines, namely San Beda University-College of Law and University of Santo Tomas-Faculty of Civil Law.
Carrying their respective fields of expertise, they joined forces to establish a law office that strives for law practice excellence by consistently delivering highly-skilled, realistic and innovative legal remedies. The Law Office of Lugo Martine-Lugo (LML Law) is a service firm located at Unit 105B, SJB Centro Plaza (Centro Plaza Condominium), Scout Madrinan cor. Scout Torillo, South Triangle, Quezon City, 1103. LML Law is duly formed and organized under the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. In this Privacy Statement, the words “LML Law,” “Law Office,” “firm,” “we,” “us,” and “our,” shall exclusively refer to the Law Office of Lugo Martinez-Lugo.
LML Law values its relationship with you and is committed to safeguarding your privacy. Accordingly, consistent with the mandate of Republic Act No. 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (DPA) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR), you shall be informed of the matters below when you avail of our services.
SERVICE DESCRIPTION
LML Law is engaged in litigation practice. It prosecutes and defends cases before the courts and different government agencies. The Law Office is also into corporate practice and provides consultation and advisory, compliance and corporate housekeeping, incorporation and business registration, as well as intellectual property registration, management and monitoring. INFORMATION WE COLLECT FROM YOU
LMAL Law may collect your personal information and/or sensitive personal information, as the case may be, when you avail our services, or when you contact us, or inquire from us, either personally or through our website or our social media platforms.
Personal Information includes your full name, date of birth, contact details (phone number, email address, mailing address) and your photograph, or any information from which your identity as an individual is apparent or can be reasonably and directly ascertained, or when put together with other information would directly and certainly identify you (Section 3 (g) of the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
Sensitive Personal Information may include your marital status, age, gender, social security numbers, and government-issued IDS. It also includes your race, ethnic origin, color, religious, philosophical or political affiliations; your health and education, your tax returns, and such other information classified as such under Section (l) of the Data Privacy Act of 2012. These pieces of information may be collected by LML Law to the extent necessary for its case handling, representation, advisory or otherwise, subject to your prior consent.
If you fail or refuse to provide any or all of the needed data, or if you withdraw the data already submitted, LML Law may not be able to extend its services to the fullest extent necessary to champion your cause.
HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
The pieces of information that we collected from you will be used by LML Law in performing its obligations to you under the engagement contract. In particular, the collected information will be used in preparing and drafting your initiatory and responsive pleadings, as well as your motions, position papers, memoranda, requests or applications, and such other correspondence, papers and documents before the courts, concerned government agencies and other legal fora.
LML Law will likewise use the collected information in assessing your case and in providing you with the most efficient pieces of advice, and in addressing your queries and concerns. The same will also be used for purposes of notice and communication.
SHARING OF INFORMATION
LML Law may seek the services of a third-party provider in completing and accomplishing its legal obligations to you. Consequently, LML Law may, under the circumstances, lawfully share and disclose, with your prior consent, certain personal information which is necessary to provide you with the needed service. LML Law does not sell your personal data to third parties or engage in any agreement that will result in the unauthorized sharing of information.
DATA RETENTION AND SAFE KEEPING
LML Law will keep the information until the purpose for which it was collected is fulfilled or no longer necessary, or consistent with the prescriptions of actions under the applicable laws, periods set forth by the government agencies, and such circulars and issuances from the regulatory bodies. Once the purposes for the retention are served, or the prescriptive periods have expired already, LML Law will take the necessary steps to destroy or delete the information to ensure unauthorize disclosure of the information.
Until the information is deleted and destroyed, in relation to the preceding paragraph, LML Law commits to securing all the collected information, taking into account LML Law’s implementation of organizational, physical and technical measures to protect the confidentiality and integrity of all the collected data, and to prevent any illegal processing, use, access, disclosure, destruction, or any unauthorized activities thereof.
First, with regard to organizational measures, the firm has in-place data privacy guidelines and its employees are trained to secure the same. Second, with respect to physical measures, the copies of documents containing personal information, personal sensitive information, and other confidential and privileged information are kept tightly within the premises of the office, where access controls are implemented. Lastly, LML Law, insofar as technical measures are concerned, also practices encryption and/or redaction of data, whether at rest or in transit, especially when sharing information.
YOUR RIGHTS AS DATA SUBJECT
You can access your data collected by our office. In so doing, you may call us on our declared contact details below. While viewing your data requires no payment, we may collect a reasonable fee should you require the special storing of the data or request for a reproduction thereof.
In the event you need to correct information or update outdated data, you may notify or email us. If the data to be corrected or updated is apparent on the basis of the supporting documents that you will supply us, we will promptly make the necessary corrections and updates.
However, if the subject of correction or updating involves a government-issued document, we will need to verify it first with the concerned government office before we should correct or update it. You may also request the deletion of your data or withdrawal of consent for non-essential data processing, subject to exceptions as the law may require and the legal prescriptive periods thereof.
LML Law is mindful of the primary importance of your privacy. Should you have concerns or complaints, you may raise them in the given contact details below, and we will try to address the same within a reasonable period of time. If we need a longer period to investigate your concerns, we shall let you know. Atty. Monfrey is the Senior Partner and Chairperson of LML Law.
Atty. Monfrey has more than a decade of comprehensive law practice. He started his legal career as a Senior Tax Supervisor of one of the top tax and auditing firms in the Philippines. He subsequently pursued litigation practice as a Senior Lawyer in a full-service law firm in the city. He previously headed the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department and the Disciplinary Committee of a well-known financing company.
Atty. Monfrey is notable for lawsuit proceedings involving criminal law, civil law, family law, labor law, tax law, commercial law, administrative and public office law, as well as other areas of litigation practice. He has a reputable track record in collection suits , tax assessment cases, and criminal prosecution and defense to name a few. He also has extensive experience in corporate law practice, real estate proceedings, compliance, and tax and corporate advisory.
Our chairperson is a Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO) and assists companies, especially start-ups, in becoming data privacy compliant. He is also a Certified Lean Six Sigma - Yellow Belt who provides aid in resolving business-related procedural problems through root cause analysIs.
Atty. Monfrey has extensive experience in case build-up and incident handling, and in-depth skills in risk management, fraud detection and fraud investigation. His previous position as head of a disciplinary committee for a long number of years provided him with remarkable proficiency in employee relations and dispute resolution.
Atty. Monfrey obtained his Bachelor’s degree, A.B. Philosophy and Human Resource Development, in 2005, from San Beda University, Mendiola, Manila, with Academic Distinction, Cum Laude average. He was a consistent Dean’s Lister, Academic Scholar, and recipient of Academic and Leadership Awards of Excellence for the entire duration of his tertiary education. He later obtained his Bachelor of Laws and Letters (L.L.B.)/ Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree from San Beda University, College of Law, Mendiola, Manila. He was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2012.
Atty. Theena is the Managing Partner of LML Law.
With more than a decade of years in the practice of law, she has acquired vast experience in the fields of Corporate Law, Family Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, Labor Law, Real Estate, Intellectual Property Law, Cross-border Transactions, Due Diligence Management, Corporate Compliance, Corporate Housekeeping, Incorporation and Company Registration, Business Permit Processing, and Administrative Law.
In her litigation and corporate stint, she was part of the Executive Committee and was appointed as Officer in charge of a medium-scale law office in Quezon City. She also held a Senior Lawyer position in one of the top Labor Law firms in the country. She previously served as the Deputy Legal Counsel of the leading Esports Company in Southeast Asia. She likewise served as corporate secretary/ assistant corporate secretary and provided corporate secretarial assistance to a number of companies in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.
Our Managing Partner is a Certified Compliance Officer (CCO) and Certified Tax Compliance Specialist (CTCS). These titles, which she diligently earned, exemplify her being well-versed in the laws and policies that govern an organization's operations.
Atty. Theena obtained the degree, A.B. Sociology, in 2005, from the University of the Philippines-Diliman as Cum Laude. She was a consistent academic scholar and dean’s lister, a member of Phi Kappa Phi (International) Honor Society and a nominee to the Phi Gamma Mu Honor Society. She subsequently obtained her Master’s Degree from the same university under a Ford Foundation Scholarship/University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI) scholarship where she was a consistent dean’s lister.
Atty. Theena obtained her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Santo Tomas, Faculty of Civil Law. She was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2014.

LML Law handles civil law and commercial law cases involving disputes between individuals or entities. The dispute may be in relation to a disagreement on, or breach of contract; rights and obligations related to property and ownership; torts and damages; product liability; rental disputes; and such other disputes affecting the parties' private and commercial relations.

Our firm provides a complete package of data privacy assistance—from the preparation of all the necessary documents for the appointment and registration of the DPO of the company with the NPC, to conducting the Privacy Impact Assessment and formulation of the data privacy policy, regulations and manuals of the company, to the submission and registration thereof to NPC, up to the completion of the post NPC registration activities such as review of existing contracts to ensure infusion of data privacy compliance clauses, creation of new contracts, forms to ensure compliance with NPC rules, and establishment of procedure to ensure continuous compliance with NPC rules.
In making your investments or acquisition of shares, LML Law will assist you in preparing and reviewing the contracts pertinent thereto, such as the Deed of Sale of Shares, or Sale and Purchase of Shares Agreement.
